delivery FAQs

will my cake be fresh?

Your cake will arrive beautifully fresh for your occasion. We recommend that the cake(s) are stored in a cool dry place (but not in a fridge as this could dry the sponge out). They are not suitable for home freezing.

 

and in perfect condition?

Absolutely! We have developed special packaging that will protect the cake through the rigours of national and international travel.

how much time should I allow for delivery?

We offer a next day delivery service for those last minute cake orders but we also accept orders up to 1 year in advance of the delivery date.  Certain postcode areas may not be available cake delivery next day guaranteed but all available delivery options will be presented to you when you place your order.  Full details can be seen below in order to help you when deciding when to place your order.
We do advise to choose delivery a day prior to the occasion in order to ensure that the cake has arrived in the perfect condition we expect it to.

will my order arrive on time?

We work closely with our couriers to ensure that every order is delivered on time.  In some instances there are factors which may affect the delivery which are out of our control. Where possible we will provide you with updated delivery information should an issue arise. Tracking details are also provided by the courier via email in order to help you track your order on the day.
We do advise it is a good idea to allow an extra day or two for delivery just in case.

To avoid any delays please ensure that you provide us with a complete and correct address with the correct postcode. You can check that you have the correct postcode by using the Royal Mail's handy postcode finder available at www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode. We are not responsible for the accuracy of the Royal Mail's postcode finder. It is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery address you provide for any order you place is correct.

what if I miss my delivery?

If you have chosen the courier company delivery option, you are unable to specify an exact time with this service. If you are not in, the courier will try a neighbour before taking the delivery back to the depot. If they deliver to a neighbour or return the order to the depot they will leave a ‘Sorry We Missed You’ card with full details on how to rearrange delivery or collect from the depot. 

You can track your order directly on the couriers website using your order reference number, or alternatively you can call the Customer Service Team at baker days on 0333 577 2559 or email at sales@bakerdays.com where we would be happy to check the progress of your cake for you.
If delivery has not been made by your chosen delivery date you can call the Customer Service Team on 0333 577 2559 or email at sales@bakerdays.com.

Deliveries cannot be rearranged by ourselves if a calling card is left by Royal Mail, you must contact them directly for this.


what if it is a surprise gift?

Don’t worry, if it’s a surprise, you can add your own optional message to the outside of the parcel i.e. “No peeking until your birthday”. Always better a day or two early than a day late!

 

UK mainland delivery

All deliveries within UK mainland are made using either our couriers DX or DPD Local/DPD courier. Courier options do require a signature upon delivery.

All cakes are delivered by DX or DPD Local/DPD courier between 8am and 6pm. You are unable to specify a time with this service. If you are not in at the time of delivery, the courier will try a neighbour before taking the parcel back to the depot.

 

UK Highlands, Offshore and Remote Area Delivery

If your delivery postcode is classed as Highlands, Islands or Offshore then there may be additional delivery charges and delivery time restrictions applied.

These are set by our couriers and are not within our control.

When placing an order you will only be offered options available to your specific delivery address. With all costs and delivery times made clear.

Delivery by 12.30pm and 10.30am is available in some, but not all, of the areas above. You will only be offered these services when placing your order if they are available for your delivery address. Additional charges will be applied for these premium delivery options. With cake delivery to Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, there may be an additional customs charge that will need to be paid by yourselves as DX and DPD do not let us know this charge. The charge will be sent straight to the contact details provided.
