You know the cake dilemma. Someone deserves a treat, but a full-size cake feels like overkill — you don't need 12 portions, a fridge shuffle, and three days of "should we finish it or not." You just need something proper. Something that shows you thought about it.
Enter: the bento cake. Small enough to feel personal. Good enough to steal the show.
What Even Is a Bento Cake?
Think of it as a full-size cake that's been to the gym. Five inches wide, five inches tall, serving 4 to 6 — perfect for a small gathering, a desk celebration, or a "just because" that doesn't need an occasion attached. It's not a cupcake pretending to be fancy. It's an actual proper cake, just scaled down to a size that makes sense for real life.
And because it's compact, it travels well — which means yes, several of our bento cakes go straight through the letterbox. No waiting in. No "sorry we missed you" card. Just cake, arriving like it was always meant to be there.
Pick a Flavour, Any Flavour (They're All Correct)
This is where it gets genuinely difficult, because there isn't a bad option on the list.
Ultimate Chocolate — for the person who reads "chocolate cake" and says "yes, but more." Rich chocolate sponge, chocolate filling, Kinder Bueno chunks, and a chocolate sauce drizzle on top. Restraint was not part of the brief.
Coffee — the sophisticated one. Moist coffee sponge, silky coffee buttercream, crunchy walnuts, finished with coffee beans on top. The bento cake equivalent of someone who orders a flat white and means it.
Lemon Drizzle — bright, tangy, impossible to be in a bad mood around. Lemon curd soaked through the sponge, extra curd on top, and a stack of meringue pieces for good measure.
Victoria Sponge — the classic, done properly. Light vanilla sponge, apple & raspberry jam, smooth buttercream, a dusting of icing sugar. Simple, but never boring.
Cinnamon Bun & Biscoff — cosy in cake form. Warm cinnamon-spiced sponge, vanilla buttercream, and a generous Biscoff crumb coating for crunch. This one's basically a jumper.
Black Forest — chocolate sponge, cherry jam, whipped-style icing, dried cherries, and chocolate shavings. Decadent, a little bit grown-up, entirely justified.

Make It Theirs
Every bento cake can be personalised — a name, a message, a milestone, whatever the moment calls for. It turns "here's a small cake" into "I got this specifically for you," which, let's be honest, is the whole point of a gift.
Order Before 2pm, We'll Handle the Rest
Ordered by 2pm and it's on the doorstep next day, UK-wide. Whether it's a thank you, a well done, a birthday that snuck up on you, or genuinely no reason at all — a bento cake is the right size, the right amount of effort, and exactly enough indulgence.
Go on. Pick a flavour. We won't tell anyone you were tempted by all six.
